Vic Vanik, owner of Four Seasons, has over 42 years experience in the horticulture industry and has owned his own operation for 36 of those years. Previously a grower in Lancaster, PA, he has grown plants for Longwood Gardens, Disney World, and shipped plants all over the world from Alaska to Israel. Although his first love is the greenhouse, you’ll find him in every department at Four Seasons. Look him up the next time you have a question- so far we haven’t found one he can’t answer!
Gail Vanik began her career in garden centers 36 years ago. Now she does a little bit of everything, from helping on the transplant line in the spring, to doing the marketing and advertising, to buying for the store, to setting up the Christmas Shop, to trying to manage our wild and crazy staff. Look for her in the greenhouse, at the registers or helping with customer care. She’s the voice behind our radio ads and has her own blog, “Gail in the Garden.”
Suzan Clifford has been a delightful addition to Four Seasons. A native of New Mexico, a career in the military and then in the greenhouse/garden center business has taken her all over the United States. She currently lives on one of the most beautiful ranches in our area. You’ll find her in the Perennial House and also helping out in the Nursery or sometimes at the registers.
Fran Marciano comes to us from a long line of gardeners. Originating from New York, she brings her own blend of humor and wit to Four Seasons. She is a huge gardener herself and she’s happy to share her knowledge. She loves teaching new gardeners to our area how to be successful. You’ll find her at the registers or helping with classes.
Joy Keeling, and her husband Larry, were the original owners of Four Seasons and they gave us a great legacy. She is kind enough to help us on busy weekends in May and June. She still loves gardening and her flower beds create an impact from far away. Joy probably knows more than almost anyone about gardening in this area, so ask her any question and she’ll have the answer. You’ll find her at the registers, so the next time you visit, stop by and say hello to a familiar face!
John Mabry is our go-to guy in the nursery at Four Seasons. We’ve never seen John in a bad mood and his cheerful disposition and happy voice get us through many a busy day, still laughing. You’ll find John helping in sales, helping to load, helping on the grounds, and just generally helping where needed. He’s also one of our delivery drivers in a pinch. We especially enjoy his great attitude!
Gilbert Merrit – there’s nothing that he cannot fix- and believe us, we’ve tested him on that more than once! Gilbert does everything from mowing to repairs to helping with planting in the spring. He’s also adds much needed muscle to our staff, so sometimes you’ll also find him helping John on deliveries during busy times. And… he’s always got a smile on his face!
You might remember him as the cute kid who ran a hot dog and lemonade stand, but Christopher Vanik has been in the greenhouse practically since he was born. Well, at least since he was 48 hours old! He’s in college now, but he occasionally comes back to help Mom and Dad. He’s our teen team leader, bagged goods loader, re-stocker, weeder, and general go-fer around the garden center. And, he’s the one that knows where to find the tomatoes when everyone else thinks we’re out! If you see him on the Gator, look out!
Robin Wolcott comes to us after a long career in teaching. We figured if she could handle the kids, then she could certainly our wild and crazy plants! She’s been a bright addition to our staff and we’re happy to have her! You’ll find her in the greenhouse, helping with sunflower greens, or at the registers. She lives in Mancos on a ranch which she works with her son and his wife.
David Sparks is our resident punster! We haven’t found anything yet that he can’t turn into a pun and he keeps us all laughing and having fun at work. This is his second year and he works mainly as the head of the sunflower sprouts team, but also helps out in the greenhouse. as a carry out and with watering. There’s also a rumor that he has stood in for the Easter Bunny in the past! We love having David around!
